Birds in the 604
May 2nd – June 14th 2017
Opening Reception May 6th at 13:00
Students from Langara’s Design Formation program have partnered with Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation to create the “Birds in the 604” exhibition on display at the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Centre from May 2 to June 14, 2017.
The exhibition illustrates the central themes of the Vancouver Bird Strategy, which aims to create conditions for native birds to thrive in Vancouver. The strategy aims to mitigate threats to the bird population through thoughtful building design, habitat improvement, and improved awareness of hazards initiated by human and pets.
“The project allowed the students to apply their skills of exhibition design, while also shifting their perspective towards sustainability and the opportunity for positive outcomes for the community and environment,” said instructor, Peter Vysek. “It engages the public in a fun way that aims to make Vancouver more bird friendly.”
“Birds in the 604” will be on display for Vancouver Bird Week and can be viewed in the Great Hall at the Roundhouse Community Centre from May 2 until June 14, 2017.
