Celebirdies Contest

Celebirdy-spotting is one of the biggest perks of living in Hollywood North: Vancouver! During May, glamorous celebirdies flock to our local parks and greenspaces for all to enjoy. From Stanley Park to Blackie Spit, celebirdies – like the Anna’s Hummingbird, Great Blue Heron, Barred Owl, Pileated Woodpecker, Tree Swallow, and Red-winged Blackbird – are spotted every day close to your home. Can you find one? Tell us about your bird sighting on social media for your chance to win prizes from Firefly Books, Planet in Focus Film Festival, Passerina Bird Connection, and Stanley Park Ecology Society.

How to Enter

The entry period will be open from April 29, 2021 at 12:00 a.m. PST to May 13, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. PST.

To be entered to win, you must:

Look for “celebirdies”: birds in your neighbourhood, yard, or garden.

Follow Vancouver Bird Celebration and Stanley Park Ecology Society on Instagram (@VanBirdCelebration and @StanleyParkEcology)

Enjoy watching your bird superstar. Then, leave a comment on one of our contest Instagram posts mentioning which bird you found and where.

You can share a photo of your feathered friend on your Instagram tagging @VanBirdCelebration, @StanleyParkEcology, and #VanBirdParty to be entered to win as well.

For extra entries, tag some friends in the comments!

Four winners per week will be selected by a random draw. The draw dates are May 7 and May 14. Each winner will be announced on Instagram within the week following the draw. The winners will also be notified on Instagram by Stanley Park Ecology Society.

Only those in the Greater Vancouver Area are eligible to win prizes.

The Prizes

Eight winners will be selected from among eligible entries by random draw. Each winner will receive one out of eight prize packs, valued at $140-$160 each. The prize packs may include:

  • The online course “At home with birds” from Passerina Bird Connection
  • The online course “The Beginners guide to birdwatching: finding birds and happiness” from Passerina Bird Connection

The prize winners must pick up their prize from the Stanley Park Nature House on Lost Lagoon on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00am-4:00pm. If a winner is unable to pick up their prize, an alternative arrangement can be coordinated with Stanley Park Ecology Society staff.

If a winner has not picked up their prize by 13 June 2021, the winner forfeits their chance to claim to the prize. Another winner will be randomly selected until all the prizes have been awarded.
